Tkay Maidza

Tkay was my favorite of the opening artists at the All Things Go festival (HAIM, St. Vincent, and Charli XCX were the headliners). She is just a lot of fun and she played a Pixies song, Where Is My Mind?, which I always appreciate. I requested a photo pass from the festival and never heard back from anyone. I spoke with another photographer friend of mine and she had photo passes granted and then had them pulled a day or two before the festival. When I got there it seemed every other person had a pass, most were taking video, and a lot had monopods which they used to take pictures above the heads to the paying crowd blocking views. It was as poor a situation for photography as I’ve seen. Hopefully the festival gets its act together by next year. Funny thing is I got there early and got the best seats in the place, so if I had my EOS R with my 70-200mm lens I’d have gotten some great shot and never had to move.
