Outerloop

DC9, Washington, DC - December 18, 2021

I almost never get good shots of drummers. They are usually poorly lighted, most likely in a color cast, hidden behind their cymbals, and moving the sticks so quickly it’s hard to catch without some degree of motion blur. In a weird twist DC9 had the drummer better lighted than the rest of the band and I found a path without cymbals to the drummer emotionally invested in what he was playing, while I got the shutter speed right enough to stop the drumstick and see the giant splinter on one. Taken with my Canon EOS R.
